Porter's New Room

I really have never been one for primary colors, but I love how they all came together in Porter's room. My kids both love their treasures and its always a challenge to keep them looking good. This shelf from Ikea was the perfect solution to keep them up out of arms reach. Three of the walls were painted a light grey and the third wall was painted a muted blue which helps tone down all of the colors and works as more of a neutral so that all of the fun treasures stand out.

Porter's light was one of my favorite DIYs. I wanted to do fun light fixtures in both of their rooms, but didn't want to spend several hundred dollars to do it. I was thrilled when I found a perfect tutorial on an orb light at The Covered Bridge. I purchased an old ugly brass light from our local classifieds for $25.00. I took off all of the glass panels and kept only the center part. I then purchased two garden baskets from Walmart and spray painted everything red and added globe lights. I am so happy with how it turned out and love how it looks in his room.

I am a finisher and I love getting things done. These rooms have been works in progress for several months and it's so nice to have them done and looking complete. We usually take forever to hang pictures, but a room never quite looks complete without that done. I couldn't be happier with how everything looks, no regrets.
