Out and About: Home Again

Another great store for locals in Utah! Home Again is a consignment furniture store with great style. We were still on the hunt for a good nightstand for Paisley. The white one from the Old Flamingo store was definitely still on our minds, but I wasn't in love with the $100 price tag. We went to a couple of thrift stores hoping to find one more in the $25 range, but came up empty handed so we were out today on the lookout again. Home Again has two stores, one in Sugarhouse (which I went to a couple of days ago) and the other one is in Midvale. The Sugarhouse location is smaller and the Midvale location is an old farm/ feedstore so its huge! It take awhile to sift through everything because there are so many fun things to look at! We found Paisley a nice white two drawer nightstand for $70 which I was okay with because its solid wood and I don't have to do anything to it. It's perfect the way it is. We also scored a darling little cane rocking chair for baby Drue. She wasn't so sure about it when she tried it out, but I'm sure she will eventually warm up to it. I'm still thinking about the world globe on the gold stand. I kinda love it. If you're in the market for cute, vintage looking pieces in fun colors, head over to Home Again and you won't be disappointed!

Anthropologie Tag Sale

I'm kind of late getting this out, but Anthropologie started their tag sale last week and there are great finds to be had! I ran down last Thursday and bought a couple shirts and a candle and of course another shirt not on sale. Dang Anthropologie! You should hurry on in before it's too picked over or shop online for a great selection as well. My apologies in advance for all the sale photos, I just couldn't help myself. They really know how to do it right, even down to the sale signs!

Quilt for my Paisley

Paisley decided she wanted to redo the colors in her room back in December so for Christmas she got new bedding and little by little we have been making the switch-o-change-o. For her 12th birthday in April, I wanted to make sure a throw quilt for her bed incorporating all of the new colors in her room. I also wanted something modern and simple. I looked and looked on Pinterest for inspiration on quilt designs and found one I loved! You can see it here. I found it by Googling the main fabric I had already decided on using which was Anna Marie Horner's Lou Lou Thi. It is such a fun print! In fact, I also used this to make Drue a darling summer dress. I'll have to do a post on that as well. Anyway, I haven't quilted for awhile and this throw definitely isn't perfect, but I absolutely love how all of the fabrics and colors came together. I also used fabrics from: Art Gallery Fabrics, Adornit and Cloud 9 Fabrics.

Out & About: The Old Flamingo

I'm starting a new series called "Out & About" because one of my favorite things is shopping and taking everything in. It's how I am most inspired in my life: decorating my home, jewelry, projects and gardening. This idea dawned on me as I was Out and About today and I instantly knew it would be a fun one! And now I have a good excuse to go on special errands around town. These posts will be especially cool to those of you who live along the Wasatch Front in Utah. Today, Paisley and I are on the hunt for a new nightstand for her. I bought her one years ago at a local thrift store and I can definitely say, It is done. Our first stop on this hunt was a store called The Old Flamingo in Salt Lake City on 2300 East about halfway in between 33rd South and 39th South. I also had my lovely helper, Miss Drue with me today. It was a girls outing!

Dressed to the nines, nails painted and ready to be Out & About!

How can you not kiss the flamingos out front?

After hunting through everything, this was the only option that might work for Paisley. It
was $100 though and I would really love to find something less expensive, but the quality
and paint finish was perfect!

We both fell in love with this dresser, the color and style were great! Too
bad Paisley doesn't need a dresser!

Lovely little aqua plant stand or accesory

I thought these were fun. Paisley thought they were totally weird, but I loved
the pops of color! I'm a sucker for color...

This photo came out a little fuzzy, but this was such a great old iron chandelier. It
would be really fun on a pitched high ceiling or outdoor porch. I probably would
have bought it if I had such a spot!

Now this little bench really caught my eye a couple of days ago when I was driving by. the curly que
metal detail is just so feminine and cute. Imagine it with a polka dot cushion! And look at the matching table. How cute would that be with potted plants on a porch. I just might have to make a trip back for these two babies!
