Rogers Gardens - Newport

As kids we used to frequent Rogers Gardens in Newport whenever we were in town. I hadn't been there for years and wanted to take a visit with our kids. It was just as magical as I remembered. In fact, it's probably more magical than it was back in the day. It was beautiful and I felt so inspired as I walked through the rows and rows of succulents and lush green plants. It had me wishing I lived in Southern California to have a beautiful garden filled with these very plants. Unfortunately we're a little more limited in our variety in Utah. They also had a large inventory of unique pumpkins, I especially loved the piles white ones. There were a couple of large ones priced at $150 each! I snapped some pics to remember their interesting plant combinations. Next spring I'll try and duplicate some of them. I have such a love for flowers, beautiful gardens, fabric and paper patterns, interior design and jewelry. I am easily inspired by beauty and am so thankful to enjoy the beauty of Gods creations at Rogers Gardens!

West Elm

I am really loving West Elm lately. I did a post over the summer and can't believe I'm doing another one already. I was in L.A. This week and popped in the location near the Beverly Center. First of all, this store is so cool! It's housed in an old brick building with amazing ceilings and rafters. Some people may not care about boring things like that but it's what I do I just can't help it. Cool. Old. Ceilings. Anyway, Im sure the new project I've been working on is why things like ceilings are on the brain. Ok so after that long ramble, back to West Elm. When I redo my own interiors, someday, I will be buying the majority of furnishings and decor from West Elm. I am in love with the vibe they have going right now. I snapped a few pics in L.A. But if you live near one of their locations, it's definitely worth going in. Enjoy browsing my pics in the meantime....

New styles from Paisley Jewels

I've been a busy maker of pretty things these past few weeks hence the lack of posts. I've been working through nap time and into the wee hours of the night on new little jewels to show you. I had two local shows this week and had a great response. I'll be ready to add them to my shop sometime next week. It's now 1:00 am and my 7 month old is teething and refusing sleep and everything else too. So why not write a post while sitting on the couch wishing for sleep?!!!! Enjoy the perks of new styles. And for all you locals, head to the Art Market this weekend. You won't be disappointed.

Industrial Design

Industrial design seems to be all the rage right now. Everywhere I go I see fun new ideas for using vintage pieces in different ways. I'm also loving the industrial reproductions. The raw metals, wood tones and detail look great in any room. Somehow, industrial pieces can look modern and vintage at the same time. The raw elements lend to a neutral color palette which makes them work almost anywhere. I'm currently designing an eatery using industrial modern vibe and I can't wait to share the mood board and selections. While working on sourcing pieces for this project, I came across some pretty amazing furniture from Restoration Hardware's new teen line and from a company called Dovetail which is only available to the trade. Let me know if you're interested in ordering any pieces.

Boden Girl Transition Pieces

Today I'm highlighting one of my favorite brands, Boden. They are based in the UK and have the most incredible styles and quality pieces. I love color and their pieces are unique and colorful. They are a little more pricey but the company often offers coupons for 15% - 20% off, especially during holiday weekends. Their clothing is worth being a little more money because of the amazing quality. Knowing I have two little girls helps me feel better knowing I can pass most items down and they will look like new! I just placed my order and love everything I purchased, in fact I'm regretting not buying a couple of items and may need to place another order! Opening the package when it arrived was like candy for the eye. The colors, fabrics and textures are beautiful. I can't wait for the cooler weather for my girls to dress in Boden. Here are a few of my favorite styles for baby girls and toddlers. Be sure to shop styles for boys and women as well. Happy shopping y'all!

Anthropologie Late Summer 2015

Anthropologie is one of my very favorite stores! Walking in their store makes me happy on the inside and out. I feel like their store speaks to my soul, and yes that was a very cheesy thing to say. But it's true, I'm not gonna lie. I love their clothing, shoes, accessories and home items. I love browsing for inspiration even if I don't buy a thing. I have a really hard time walking by without going in. I recently scoured their site for my most favorite items right now and it was hard to narrow it down. There are a lot of great things right now and as fall approaches, I'm sure it will be even harder to choose. None of the items I picked are sale items, but they are running a promotion right now of an additional 20% off sale items. Sometimes, this is a tricky time of year for shopping as we transition into fall gone are shorts and sweaters are starting to arrive although I won't be wearing a sweater for a couple of more months here. Happy Shopping!

Summer Social

A couple of weeks ago, we held our monthly meeting for women at church. Our theme was Summer Salad Social & Swap. Phew! That's a lot of s's for me to say! We asked women to bring 5 household or personal items they no longer needed or wanted that other women might want. Each woman could then place dibs on up to 5 items by putting a clothes pin with her name on that item. Almost all the items people brought were snatched up but any remaining items were sent to charity. It was a fun evening of visiting, eating and swapping items. My job was to come up with centerpieces for the event. I wanted to keep with the flea market, reuse, recycle theme and keep costs at a minimum. I decided to play off of the centerpieces I did for my mother in laws birthday party last summer with a little modification. First I looked around the house to see what I had to reuse without spending money. I came up with yellow yarn, cans, mason jars, map flowers and succulents from my mom's yard. I found a little inspiration on Pinterest which always helps and then got to work. I made yarn pom pom flowers using sticks from outside for the stems, I used and borrowed paper flowers made from maps from a friend, and I planed succulents from my mom's yard. On each table, I laid cloth napkins or fabric remnants and then the three items in mason jars, inexpensive glass vases (from a thrift store) and tin cans or pots with the flowers in them. These made for darlings centerpieces and the women were gaga for them! With a little time and searching around the house, you never know what you'll come up with!

Happy First Day of School

Yay! Today was the first day of school for us and I am full of mixed emotions. On one hand, I feel like we should have had more fun or done more this summer and on the other hand I feel so tired and ready to have a routine and normal bedtime hours! I felt so accomplished this morning that I had a great workout and everyone fed by 8:30. I took a big breath of fresh air. I'm hoping I can get back to a more regular daytime routine too which means more blogging, more projects and a cleaner house! I wouldn't trade being home with the kiddos the last few months though. I realize those moments are ones you can't replace and before I know it my kids will be adults! Time flies way too fast.

I did these cute chalkboard signs from Michaels that I last blogged about with awesome chalk markers. I had never used the chalk markers and I am sold! They were so easy to use, much easier than chalk and I love how they look! Here's to a more productive me and an awesome school year for us all!

Great buys from Michaels

I used to frequent craft stores like Michaels and Hobby Lobby all the time until I finally looked myself in the mirror and realized I had a real craft supply hoarding problem and it definitely had to stop. Since then, I have avoided going unless I really needed something. Well, the other day I needed something and ran in Michaels for some darling chalkboards and I was so pleasantly surprised. I first saw these chalkboards on the Instagram feed of @katie_vintage She made the cutest back to school signs for her kids to hold up for their first day of school photos! These were on sale last week for around $8 each. I'm not sure if they are this week, but you could definitely use a coupon. Anyway, back to why I was surprised... It has probably been a good six months since I've stopped by Michaels. I found rows and rows of cute accessories and home decor! I had so much self control, I only bought what I needed plus a couple of super duper sale items. I just have to share pics of what I found. If you see anything you like, I vote run don't walk to your nearest Michaels before someone else snatches it off the shelves. Oh and one other thing, there are always coupons at Michaels and you can pull them up right from your smartphone while waiting in line!
